Meditation and Its health benefits

Meditation Society of America defines meditation as a process that leads to a state of consciousness that brings serenity, clarity, and bliss. Meditation was originally practiced spirituality in many ancient religions, including Hinduism, Judaism, Christianity, Taoism, and most commonly, Buddhism.The founder of Buddhism, Siddharta Gautama became the master of the art of meditation and went on to teach it to his followers. He achieved enlightenment while meditating under a Bodhi tree.

Meditating is known to heal body and soul. Upon meditation we can remove negative thoughts and cultivate positive thoughts. Thus, it will clear our mind  from negative emotions and thoughts. Eventually the meditator will be benefitted physically, psychologically, spiritually.

To reach the state of serenity you need to start by simply concentrating with your breathing. Breathe in and breathe out. then empty your mind, allowing it to float. While other practitioner move their body gently like the technique used in Tai chi or Qi Gong.There are various technique of meditation. The Basic meditation technique, Focussed Meditation technique, Activity-oriented meditation technique, mindfulness Technique and Spiritual technique. The basic Meditation is done by simply sitting in a comfortable position and allow your mind to be blank. Focused meditation Technique is done by focusing on an object, auditory i.e sound of water or unconditional compassion. Activity Oriented Technique is done by engaging in a repetitive activity. Mindfulness Technique doesn’t look much of a meditation. It involves staying in the present moment. Lastly, Spiritual technique involve praying, A form where God speaks. meditation will not take much of your time 10-15 minutes will do. When doing Meditation other people might feel sleepy or smiling and weeping. That depends, but it is just a sign that you are having the state of serenity.

Meditation is the best way to combat stress. It provides many health-enhancing benefits, like increasing concentration, spontaneity, self-esteem, self-confidence, creativity, reducing anxiety, and increase serotonin, low levels of serotonin is linked to depression, narcolepsy, insomnia, obesity, sleep apnea and migraine. Meditation also relieves physical complaints such as headaches, menstrual pain and even enhancing immunity to illness.

Meditation has enormous health benefits according to a research review published in 2004,Practicing meditation may help boost heart health and reduce your risk for cardiovascular disease, They indicate that meditation help lower blood pressure and lessen psychological stress.In a study published in 2009, scientists discovered that practicing meditation was linked to improved performance on tasks designed to test visual memory.The authors believe that it show a promising way of treating  people who are experiencing memory loss (a problem common among people with Alzheimer’s disease).In 2010 study suggest that meditation may increase thickness in certain brain regions involved in regulating pain and emotion. Earlier research indicates that meditation help ease pain in people with chronic pain-causing conditions, such as Fibromyalgia and low back pain.
(zamarra et al 1996) states that meditator have increase exercise tolerance and cardiac workload. Meditation also help improve mood of people with depression.
